Meet Shali
As a dedicated advocate for children and families, I believe in a systems-level approach to addressing societal inequities. I have done community development work in New Orleans, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area for a variety of target populations. My perspective includes addressing issues of social justice, racism, classism, and social determinants of health. As a school board member and commissioner on the Juvenile Justice Commission, I believe in addressing the whole child, and working with children and families wherever they are in the continuum of education, mental and physical health and wellness, and socio-economic and cultural integration. I firmly believe that public education is a pillar of our democracy, and like our democracy, must be protected and nurtured.
