As Board Trustee, I want to promote the mission of LASD to provide 21st century learning for all children in our school district. All children, irrespective of need and socioeconomic status, benefit from an education that prepares them to thrive in their future pursuits. As Co-Chair of Measure GG (2016 Parcel Tax), I wanted to protect our excellent academic programs and keep our schools in the top 1% of the state.

I will also focus on supporting our teachers so that they can continue to provide innovative, high quality academic programs to our children. This includes both professional support and finding creative solutions to helping teachers find stable housing. Working with Bay Area Forward and SupportTeacherHousing.org, and serving on the Citizens Advisory Committee on Finance (CACF), I understand the impact this will have on recruiting and retaining the strong, highly qualified teachers we have in our schools.

In addition, I will address enrollment growth in a way that is inclusive and focuses on the current and future needs of our community. Any school on the 10th site will need to consider the communities that are served by that school. Having served as Los Altos Mountain View PTA Council Executive Vice President and President, and from serving on CACF, I understand the finances of the district, the magnitude of the economic and educational impact of our PTAs, and the need to serve our wonderfully diverse communities.

Finally, I will embrace a collaborative, community-based approach to support the educational goals of our children and families. I appreciate the needs of our school district within the greater context of our region. The projects I have undertaken have been consistent with my core values, addressing teacher housing, issues that affect the schools and PTAs in all three of our school districts (LASD, MVWSD, and MVLAHSD), and creating safe, livable communities for all Los Altans.
